About

Hi. I’m Stefanie Paige Gunning.

Native New Yorker. Brooklynite since Brooklyn wasn’t cool. Wife. Mom. Voracious reader. Movie junkie. Theatre geek. Fervent supporter of the Oxford comma. Recovering manic pixie dream girl.

I write about love, friendship, marriage, motherhood. Surviving a bad father. Growing older, growing wiser. Books, TV, movies, podcasts. Weird things I buy and sometimes regret. My eternal search for the ideal French bob, slouchy trousers, and cozy home by the sea.

  2. Hi Stefanie- sorry I couldn’t see another way to contact you,
    My name is Mark.
I saw your Tweet about one of my favorite articles ‘The Small Happy Life’.
I was hearing from my readers that they wanted some more practical steps to take to encourage happiness so I went ahead and created this post: http://wp.me/p6bNAS-1P
If you have time I’d love for you to check it out. If you like it, it would be awesome if you’d consider sharing it.
    Thanks!

  3. Why isn’t there an ‘adore’ button? ‘Like’ doesn’t feel strong enough! I’ve just discovered your blog and I’m in stitches, definitely my new obsession.

  4. Would you be at all interested in talking to a rural based pioneer in palliative care breaking trail in the home care of people completing life? I crowdfunded the startup and have gotten great media reaction thus far with an All Things Considered piece recently and a bunch of other attention. Take a look at the website and I’d love to talk!

And thanks for the Twitter follow!

  6. You found me on Twitter this morning, and I came to your blog and fell in love, and just wanna say — the day your first novel is out, I’m buying copies for me and my friendsies. I also want to come to your book signings. So hurry up and finish that blockbuster, k? I need it.

  7. OMG, I think I’ve found my kindred sole. Just read your entry about the Clarisonic brush/masturbator, and fell out laughing. You are SO living my parallel life. I failed my kidney ultrasound today, and was depressed because I am sure I woulda nailed it with glory, had I studied even an inkling. It is my goal to turn failing body parts into a stand-up routine and take it on the–er–road. Even if I’m lying down, writhing, while onstage…Keep up the good work!

  8. Write on, Stephanie. Also working on my first novel, or will be when my third nonfiction book sells. We have the same condition, aside from our hypergraphic writing habit we must support: Both of us believe, all evidence to the contrary up to our necks, that there IS a way to find some peace, and spread it like butter … with a good book.

Same way Kipling and Steinbeck both made my day better on the morning I found them, now I feel reassured that there are others of the People out there, merrily platting twishers and working good magic to make the world happier. Write on, then, and go gunning for the monster, Suffering. Please count me as an unmet friend, on the other side of the continent.
